HSC Riders Choices: Places to read/relax/meditate

Sunday, November 17th, 2013

With the craziness of the holidays looming around the corner, we all need that time to ourselves: no texts, no emails, no phone calls, and no noise. We all have that special place where we can go to reflect, to reset our minds, to get away from the madness that life unexpectedly rolls our way. We kindly asked our Honolua Surf Co. athletes to share where their favorite places are to go to escape on the islands.

Hawaii has miles of beautiful landscape and coastline, the majority being protected and preserved by those who inhabit the area and by the State of Hawai’i. When not on Water Patrol duties, Bonga Perkins escapes to Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park on the west coast of the Big Island. Kimo Miranda finds tranquility at the picturesque beach front of Lanikai on the windward coast of Oahu. Kiva Rivers appreciates the remote areas on Maui where the paths that lead there are rugged and isolated.

For our other riders, their place of Zen is where the heart is: at home. Summer Macedo and Ocean Macedo enjoy the cool breezes [from the air conditioner] in the comfort of their own rooms. Buzzy Kerbox sways in his hammock, while Sierra Lerback dances with her true love, the ocean.

Aloha!
